Tip of the week
|
URLs are Case Sensitive.
|
This tip was written by MalekTips reader Joe Miller.
The last part of a URL, after the host name, may be case-sensitive. For example, http://this.host.com/INDEX.HTM may not be the same as http://this.host.com/index.htm
If you get a "404 Not Found" message when accessing a particular URL, make sure that the portion of the URL after the host name is in the correct case.
Generally, this only applies to those hosts on the Internet that have a case-sensitive operating system, such as UNIX.
